Joe Williams has worked at or written for a wide range of publications, including The NY Times, The Washington Post, The Miami Herald, The Boston Globe and Politico.
The people and subjects he’s covered have been equally broad, from the criminal justice system to writing a political blog to social determinants of health in the U.S. He covered then-Sen. Barack Obama’s 2008 campaign, wrote about Black vegan farmers in southside Virginia and conducted a live-streamed interview with legendary entertainer Debbie Allen, one in a series of webinars he hosted exploring different aspects of race in America. Most recently, Williams was an in-house writer and editor for Color Of Change, a social justice nonprofit with millions of members nationwide.
A California native, Williams is a graduate of the University Of Richmond and a former Nieman Fellow at Harvard University. He lives and works in metro Washington, D.C.
